1966 Impala Engine Swap

We swapped a Mark VI 454 into this beautiful Impala to give our customer the grunt and sound he needed for his ride.

Our customer had an original 327 cubic inch small block in his Impala but came to us because he said he wanted more power, more torque and more noise. Fortunately for him, we’d already built a Mark VI 454 cubic inch big block and had it broken in and ready to go.

Our customer decided he needed a little something more to showcase that motor in his Impala so we added a CVF Raptor serpentine accessory drive system and FiTech UltraRam port injection instead of a carburetor. Our customer loves blue, so we painted the engine GM corporate blue instead of Chevrolet orange.

We decided traditional coolant hoses just didn’t look quite right on this engine so we built aluminum coolant lines instead.

Our customer also decided to update how the car’s vitals are monitored so he asked us to install Dakota Digital gauges with blue lighting to match the car. This was an excellent decision, they look perfect in that dash.

There was plenty of work and challenges to overcome in this swap but it turned out perfect. The grin on our customer’s face when we fired it up for him the first time was priceless, we knew we nailed it!
